Randy Moss Signs 1-Year Deal with 49ers [Video]

Randy Moss is officially back in the NFL.

The San Francisco 49ers have signed the free agent wide receiver to a one-year contract, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Moss, who told an audience on UStream.tv in February that he was trying to return for the 2012 season, had worked out with the 49ers during the day on Monday, with head coach and former NFL quarterback Jim Harbaugh throwing passes to the six-time Pro Bowler.

“I can still play at a high level,” Moss, a 13-season veteran, told the Boston Herald during a conference call. “I look forward to learning the offense. I’m ready to bring the fans out of their seats.”

Because he did not play in 2011, Randy was able to sign immediately with the 49ers rather than wait for the start of the new league year at 1pm PDT Tuesday, as will be the case for most free agents.

“We are pleased to add a player with Randy’s wealth of experience to our receiving corps,” said 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke. “Randy’s productivity over the course of his career speaks for itself. We look forward to integrating him into our system.”

Moss, who turned 35 last month, retired prior to the 2011 season after splitting a frustrating 2010 campaign between the Patriots, Vikings and Titans.

In 13 seasons, Moss has 954 catches for 14,858 yards; his 153 receiving TDs are tied for second all-time with Terrell Owens, just 44 behind 49ers legend Jerry Rice. (It’s also worth wondering if Moss will don the No. 81 jersey T.O. sported in his Frisco days.)

This will be Moss’ second Bay Area stint after he spent two largely forgettable seasons (2005, 2006) with the Raiders.
