There is an old adage that says, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” Through the ages, women have taken on the role of cooking for her man, while the man has always taken pride in his woman that can work magic in the kitchen.
Now a new technology has been introduced that may cause a man to reconsider his need for a woman in the kitchen. Women, take notice. This new extraordinary kitchen gadget is being referred to as the Robo-Chef. This contraption was introduced at the Hanover Messe industrial tradeshow by British engineer Mark Oleynik, who plans to market his product to the average consumer in 2017, as reported by PSFK .
Oleynik and his crew at Moley Robotics designed two robotic arms that are installed in a hub in the ceiling of the kitchen. The engineers designed the arms with 129 sensors, 24 joints, and 20 motors all working together to create a delicious meal in the comfort of your own home.
According to CNN , Robo-Chef comes equipped with over 2,000 recipes to choose from with just the touch of a button. Robo-Chef has been known to create a mouth-watering crab bisque in 30 minutes.
Robo-Chef’s movements are modeled by Tim Anderson — 2011 winner of Britain’s Master Chef . The engineers designed Robo-Chef to follow the instructions programmed to mimic Anderson in the precise movements needed to cook, including stirring, pouring, and even whipping an egg white to the perfect consistency.
Anderson reveals to CNN , “The current model is purely based on rote movements, so if anything is out of place it won’t work. It’s so consistent, it always makes the exact same bowl of food. And that’s the mark of a really great chef.”
If you’re willing to fork out $15,000 out of your wallet, you could have a top-notch chef in your kitchen every night cooking up a wide array of meals by simply providing the ingredients and punching in the recipe code.
There are still a few kinks that need to be worked on. For example, Anderson reveals to CNN the different sizes of ingredients is an issue.
“One of the biggest challenges is that ingredients are so inconsistent — they come in different shapes and sizes, and are in different places all over the kitchen. So that’ll be the next stage of development.”
Maybe while their at it, the engineers could also create a function to have the Robo -Chef clean the kitchen after it’s done cooking. If that were the case, it may not be such a bad gizmo for women after all.
