Arizona senator and occasional presidential-hopeful John McCain knows a thing or two about HBO’s film detailing Sarah Palin’s meteoric entrance into the political sphere , and is none-too enchanted by the television portrayal of the events surrounding the right wing during the 2008 presidential election. His perspective? In short , “I’m not going to watch it,” he says.
He’s certainly no fan of the the film, and criticized the movie that finds its basis in his 2008 presidential campaign. He said on Fox News Sunday that the film is, “based on a book that’s completely biased and with unattributed quotes. I’m not going to watch it.” Politico is saying that McCain’s main axe-to-grind seems to be his portrayal by Ed Harris, which makes generous use of all our favorite four-letter sentence enhancers. “I don’t use coarse language very often. I have a larger vocabulary than that,” he says.
Despite alleged tensions between McCain and Sarah Palin (as underscored by the HBO film), the senator also came out swinging in defense of his former running-mate.
“I don’t understand, even in the tough world of politics, why there continues to be such an assault on a good and decent person. I admired and respect her. … I thought she was the most qualified person.”
Game Change premiered last night on HBO, and stars Ed Harris as Senator John McCain and Julianne Moore as former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin. The film has garnered a mixed response in political camps, and critics have praised the performances, specifically Moore’s portrayal of Palin.
