Selena Gomez seems like an unlikely candidate for fat shaming. But when the actress, singer, and erstwhile girlfriend of Justin Bieber posted photos of herself in a bikini, she found herself being slammed for her weight, reported Global Grind .
Using Instagram as her no-pudge-here platform, Selena shared the swimsuit pics along with captions that both responded to the fat shaming and questions about whether she’s dating Hit-Boy, a producer and music artist.
“I love being happy with me yall #theresmoretolove,” wrote Gomez to accompany a photo of her bikini body.
“should probably sign to hit cause….,” she commented for a second pic.
Then Selena hit back at the Hit-Boy dating rumors.
“We decided as a family to come to Mexico to be inspired…. That’s exactly what happened. #nowletthemusicspeakforitsself”
At 22, Selena has millions of Instagram followers, with a single photo getting 1.2 million “likes.” While some like to snark, the singer primarily receives comments such as “beautiful” to her photos .
Selena isn’t alone in coping with fat-shaming comments. As the Inquisitr reported, singer Kelly Clarkson recently was targeted by news anchor Chris Wallace for her post-pregnancy weight.
Wallace and radio host Mike Gallagher mocked her on air.
“Kelly Clarkson? Holy cow, did she blow up,” zinged Mike.
“She could stay off the deep dish pizza for a little bit,” agreed Wallace.
As for the ubiquitous rumors about who Selena is dating , she’s focused on her music rather than men, reported TMZ .
Selena and Hit-Boy are immersed in creating an album at the home recording studio owned by Joe Francis. There’s even a Kim Kardashian and Kanye West connection there.
Kim and Kanye visited Joe, and because Hit-Boy has served as producer for Kanye as well as singers ranging from Justin Bieber to Jay Z, he learned that the studio was superb. Bonus to working with Joe Francis: Great beach plus a swimming pool in which a sea lion reportedly frolics.
Is Selena interested in reuniting with Justin Bieber? While Bieber supposedly is dating Kendall Jenner , Selena may secretly be longing to hook up again with Justin, according to Celeb Dirty Laundry .
However, Gomez publicly has been linked to Zedd, while Bieber and Kendall claim that they’re just friends.
