HTC One M8 users should keep their eyes peeled over the next several days – HTC’s Vice President of Product Management, Mo Versi, announced in his Twitter that AT&T is going to start rolling out Lollipop update for this phone within a week. And the owners of the original HTC One are supposed to have it already. Although HTC didn’t manage to meet their release schedule for Lollipop on HTC One M8 and other flagship phones (they were aiming for February 1st), they kept their users well-informed and didn’t lag as far behind as some manufacturers.

According to GottaBeMobile , it is not the only piece of good news for HTC fans.

“Last year HTC confirmed many of its popular and most recent Android smartphones would receive an upgrade to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update, and it’s slowly but surely hitting more original HTC One handsets. HTC is busy pushing the update out for both the original One (M7) as well as the newer HTC One M8. At the same time, the new HTC One M9 hits carrier shelves on April 10th”.

One M8 is popularly believed to be one of the best Android smartphones currently on the market, and probably the only one capable of competing with Apple’s iPhone 6 on equal footing, as reported by the Inquisitr :

“The 5-inch 1080p display meets the market standard, but the camera is where the HTC One (M8) stands out. Dual 4MP cameras with the unique 2µm pixel size offers great low-light photos. UFocus allows users to modify the focus point of the photo even after the photo has already been taken. The HTC One M8 also packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, one of the fastest processors on the market, making it a very speedy device”.

The new Android 5.0 Lollipop update is supposed to bring it further up to date. It is one of the biggest and most impressive updates the OS had so far, especially in what concerns user interface. It introduces Google’s Material Design principles, establishes new notification system, allows for better multitasking and longer battery life.

AT&T also mentions that some users may only receive a minor 4.4.2 Android KitKat update, with Lollipop arriving right behind it – which probably means that you should fully recharge your HTC One M8 and check your WiFi prior to updating, as it is going to take a long time to finish.
