Harry Styles appeared to break down in tears during One Direction’s first performance as a foursome in Jakarta, Indonesia, just a few hours after it had been confirmed that Zayn Malik had quit the band.

During the concert, it also appeared as though Liam Payne tried to console Harry Styles by putting his arm around his band-mate as he sang. Louis Tomlinson also signified that he already missed Malik by pretending to put his arm around the space where Zayn would usually sit.
Zayn Malik announced that he’d left One Direction on Wednesday, explaining to the band’s legion of fans that he just wanted to be like a “normal 22-year-old living out of the spotlight.” However, he was insistent that One Direction still has a future without him.
“My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band.
I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.”
Malik insisted that One Direction “will continue to be the best band in the world” without him.
