Samsung has pulled back the curtains on its latest tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), the successor to the original Galaxy Tab, which first launched back in 2010.
On the surface, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 isn’t that much of an upgrade over its predecessor. It sports a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, a 3-megapixel rear facing camera and a 1024 x 600 LCD. What really sets the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 apart is what powers it: Android 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich.
Samsung says that the Galaxy Tab 2 will be available in your standard WiFI and 3G varieties, and includes either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, a microSD slot for added storage capability, a 10.5mm front-facing camera, and a 4,000 mAh battery.
“Two years ago, Samsung GALAXY Tab began to offer customers more possibilities on the go. Since then, Samsung has actively enhanced our tablet line-up with several tablets in different sizes,” said JK Shin, President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. “The new GALAXY Tab 2 (7.0) will provide people with delighted multimedia experience and allow efficient communication.”
No word on pricing and availability just yet, but Samsung did say that it would be launching in the UK first, with a release elsewhere following soon after.
