Ingrid Michaelson and Greg Laswell are set to divorce after the pair confirmed they’d split. Michaelson and Laswell, who are both musicians, made the announcement on Friday, releasing a statement through People.

Their joint statement read, “After careful consideration, and with mutual respect, we have decided to separate. We ask for privacy as we navigate this time in our lives.”

Michaelson and Laswell had been married for three years, after they exchanged nuptials at a service in August, 2011. A source also confirmed to People that the duo “have been living apart for months.”

However, the insider also added that they still have a lot of respect for each other and they will continue to support one another through this period.

“Even though they’re going their own ways,” the source added, “they continue to support and respect each other.”

Thirty-five-year-old Ingrid Michaelson has released five albums since her debut record, Slow The Rain , hit shelves in 2005. Other albums include Girls and Boys, Be OK, Everybody, Human Again and Lights Out.

Last year, Ingrid Michaelson opened up to the Boston Globe about the ideas and recording process for Lights Out , which had been dogged by serious stomach and throat issues that had threatened her singing voice.

“I had a lot of health issues, my parents were ill, my dog died; last year was a rough year and I needed a lot of help in every way,” she admitted. “And I let that bleed over into the recording process, and I though, I’m just going to seek out people I trust and I’m going to write with them and work with them. And it turned out to be this amazing collaboration. I feel like the record feels like a real family affair, and I love that so much.”

Meanwhile, Greg Laswell has forged a career as a musician, recording engineer and producer. This has seen him release six of his own albums, with his first record dating all the way back to 2003’s Good Movie . His most recent album was 2014’s I Was Going To Be An Astronaut.
