A woman, 22-year-old Asia Larose Brown, and her 2 year old son were found murdered inside a burned car in Greensboro, North Carolina, this week.
Local police responded to a call at 3:30 p.m. upon reports of the two dead bodies being found on Thurston Avenue in Southern Greensboro.
Authorities told reporters that the position in which the bodies found were “consistent with a homicide,” and that they had interviewed people of interest Sunday, “concluding that they had no murder suspects at that time.”
The woman and her toddler son, Ashton, were last seen alive on Friday. On Sunday, a coworker reported the two missing, according to police spokeswoman Susan Danielsen, who stated that at that point, no arrests had been made.
According to a press release, Police sent the bodies to the N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsies. While notification has been sent to the families, no official identification of the bodies were made by the coroner.
Cause of death has not been established, and police are questioning likely means that the two were killed and then placed inside the vehicle, and that the assailant then burned the vehicle to cover his involvement with the crime.
Greensboro Police Department Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators, and Greensboro Fire Department Arson Investigators are thoroughly processing the scene, collecting evidence, and conducting interviews with local residents to determine the cause of the brutal murders.
Police have been canvassing the area, looking for any leads they can follow that may help them in determining the events leading up to the crime.
