The MacBook Pro is currently the most popular laptop and, judging from reports, it’s about to become even more popular. A number of observers believe that a MacBook Pro refresh is set for release in June of this year. PC Advisor speculates on some of the 2015 MacBook Pro features.
“The current Retina MacBook Pro models have Haswell processors, but Intel’s new Broadwell chips are imminent, so we expect to see new MacBook Pro models that utilise the more powerful and efficient processors this year. The Broadwell chips should mean that the new MacBook Pro models have better batter life [and] native support for 4K display technology.”
The Latino Post, too, commented on the possibility of different versions of the MacBook Pro .
“Just like its predecessors, the 2015 MacBook Pro is expected to come in 13- and 15-inch versions… In particular, the earlier models packed diagonal measurements of 13.3 inches and 15.4 inches, respectively. Both have Retina Display.”
Some people have speculated that there will be a new 12-inch MacBook Pro as well. However, it’s more likely that they are confusing the MacBook Pro with the rumored MacBook Air refresh, which could see Apple finally adding a Retina Display to its ultraportable notebook, according to Apple Insider .
“Apple may be planning to hold a media event in late February to showcase the final version of its upcoming Apple Watch, and also debut a newly redesigned MacBook Air potentially with a Retina display. It’s expected that the redesigned MacBook Air will sport a high-resolution 12-inch Retina display. There have also been claims that the device will feature the new, smaller, reversible USB 3.0 port.”
The likely release of the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air Retina during the first half of the year isn’t all Apple fanatics can expect. The Apple Watch is scheduled to be released this April and the MacBook Pro could have a new brother, the iPad Pro. According to Gizmodo , the iPad Pro will have a very special addition that is already included on the Surface Pro.
“Apple already has patents for its own stylus, and a bigger iPad wouldn’t interest the average user anyway, who would most likely stick with an iPad Air or Mini. Instead, the big iPad will be marketed toward creatives and artists who need the pen to do their tablet-based artwork.”
Unlike many of Apple’s other products, the MacBook Pro hasn’t had a major update since 2012. In fact, many people who bought the MacBook Pro Retina in 2012 are very happy and don’t have a major need to upgrade. That may change in 2015. What do you want to see in the new MacBook Pro?
