Since the introduction of the original iPhone, apps have truly revolutionized how we use and interact with our phones. With Android having over 400,000 apps and iOS having over 500,000 apps, there’s an app for just about anything you can think of.
Camera+, an app for taking and editing photos, has done extremely well since it’s introduction in 2010. The developer tap tap tap announced on their blog today that the app has reached six Million, yes six Million purchases. The app goes for 99 cents in the App Store.
Considering that developers keep 70% of all profits, as is the case with Android as well, that’s quite a chunk of change.
“The app has earned us a grand total of $5,125,844 to date. Over the past 6 months, Camera+ revenue has increased over 3x. Play along and fantasize for a second about that trend continuing over time… if it keeps going, by 2018 our daily sales would be twice the world population. Yeah, this growth might not be sustainable over time. Anyway…”
The app has seen increased growth over the last few months and is attributed to the new iPhone 4S and users wanting to take better advantage of the new 8 megapixel camera. With the great quality of that combined with the Camera+ app, it’s a worthy purchase.

- Camera+ was the top selling non-game app in the App Store in 2011
- Over 5 million out of the total 6 million Camera+ sales have been in just the past 12 months
