Google+, the ever growing social network from Google launched back in June 2011, announced new improvements to their social search product today. The overall goal is to make results much more personal for users.
Currently, Google+ is said to have over 60 Million users, though this is an estimate as Google themselves haven’t released any official stats yet. In case you’re not familiar with Social Search, basically it allows you to search and find relevant content within your social networks.
Here’s the 3 new features that were announced today:
- Personal Results, which enable you to find information just for you, such as Google+ photos and posts—both your own and those shared specifically with you, that only you will be able to see on your results page;
- Profiles in Search, both in autocomplete and results, which enable you to immediately find people you’re close to or might be interested in following; and,
- People and Pages, which help you find people profiles and Google+ pages related to a specific topic or area of interest, and enable you to follow them with just a few clicks. Because behind most every query is a community.
The company is very focused on further improving their search product, and integrating their social network into those results. Now, instead of heading to Google+ to search, you can get the results right from Google.com with a toggle of a button.
These new features will be rolling out over the next few days for English users. No word on when it will be expanded to other languages.
