The hit Netflix original show Orange is the New Black recently added a new cast member , Ruby Rose. Rose is a 28-year-old Australian model and recording artist who was hired by Orange is the New Black to play the third point on a lesbian love triangle between Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) and Alex Vause (Laura Prepon). Since Rose was cast in Orange Is The New Black, the internet has learned a lot about her role.
Season 3 of Orange is the New Black (premiering on July 10) will inject an irresistible new prisoner named Stella Carlin. Orange Is The New Black creators have insisted that she will exhibit “ raw sex appeal even in an orange jumpsuit,” according to Christian Post . Stella Carlin won’t so much be a love interest of both Piper and Alex, but a “lust object.”
Ruby Rose announced that she was joining the cast of Orange is the New Black on her Facebook fan page, where she wrote,
“Grab yourself a copy of U.S. ELLE MAGAZINE and read about my new role on a small unheard of series called ‘ Orange is the New Black ‘.. (insert sarcasm). Haha.”
Ruby Rose also teased her role on Orange is the New Black with an Instagram photo, depicting her in handcuffs and an orange jumpsuit.
BuzzFeed reported on the new Orange is the New Black addition, insisting that she will “turn heads” in the halls of Litchfield Prison. Netflix described Rose’s Orange is the New Black character to BuzzFeed , calling her “an inmate at Litchfield Federal Correctional Institution whose sarcastic sense of humor and captivating looks quickly draw the attention of some of Litchfield’s inmates.”
As for the Orange is the New Black actress herself, Ruby Rose is surprisingly open about her personal life. Like her character on Orange is the New Black , Rose breaks traditional gender norms–claiming she would sooner identify as a guy than a girl. Currently, Rose is dating Phoebe Dahl , the granddaughter of children’s author Roald Dahl. According to Us Magazine , Dahl fell in love with Rose at first site.
“I was in another relationship at the time, which was a little problematic, because the second I saw Ruby, I completely fell for her,” Dahl explained. “It sounds corny, but it was love at first sight. Apparently, she felt the same thing.”
It seems that Ruby Rose will have the same effect on some Orange is the New Black characters when the third season starts–and possibly make many Orange is the New Black fans fall in love with her as well.
