If Corey Haim were alive today he would be celebrating his 40th birthday. The 80s child star, who starred in movies like “The Lost Boys” and “Lucas,” died unexpectedly last March.
Haim battled with addiction throughout his adult life but coroners ruled that his death was not the result of an overdose. Haim died of pulmonary and cardiac issues. At the time, the coroner said:
“The cause of death has been determined by the coroner to be: diffuse alveolar damage, community acquired pneumonia with other conditions including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with coronary arteriosclerosis. The toxicology report revealed “no significant contributing factors” and the manner of death was ruled “natural.”
Haim got his first major film role at the age of 10 in 1984 when he appeared alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr. in “Firstborn.” After Haim’s death, Downey Jr. said:
”He was naturally gifted and a real charmer — I adored him.”
Haim became the official heartthrob of the 80s generation when he starred as the title character in “Lucas,” but arguably his most famous role came the following year when he paired up with fellow child star Corey Feldman in “The Lost Boys.” The two Corey’s formed a bond that would last until Haim’s tragic end last March.
After Haim’s death, Feldman wrote:
“This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend.”
