Alicia Key’s days sure are looking merry and bright. Thirty-three-year-old Keys and her husband, 36-year-old Swizz Beatz, welcomed their second child on December 27, just days after Christmas.
The announcement came via Alicia Key’s Twitter and Instagram accounts, and was quickly picked up by multiple celebrity news outlets. The new baby, a boy named Genesis, was born in the early hours of December 27 and weighed six pounds, five ounces. Genesis joined older brother Egypt, Keys 4-year-old son with Swizz Beats, whom she married in 2010. Keys told E! Online News that Egypt was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his baby brother .
“He’s not going to be the baby anymore. He’s already preparing. He has like a little doll where he’s like, ‘Am I supposed to be doing this? Am I supposed to be doing that?’ He’s so ready. It’s a blessing.”
Egypt wasn’t the only one eagerly awaiting the birth of Alicia Keys’ youngest son. Keys posted a photograph to her Instagram account of U2 singer Bono kissing her belly.

Keys captioned the post, “Baby love from Uncle B Maybe the baby will be our Christmas gift… we’ll let u know.”
Baby Genesis didn’t arrive on Christmas, but he certainly came close enough to be a late Christmas gift for Keys and Swizz Beatz.
Keys announced the addition to her family in an anniversary Instagram post. The photo features Keys and her husband both dressed in white and clasping her round baby bump. Though Keys has been wearing her hair loose for several years, she opted for her signature beaded braids for the stunning photograph.
“Happy anniversary to the love of my life. And to make it even sweeter we’ve been blessed with another angel on the way!! You make me happier than I have ever known! Here’s to many many more years of the best parts of life!”
Keys, known for the hit songs “Girl on Fire,” “If I Ain’t Got You,” and “Fallin’,” is also a passionate activist. Her song “We Are Here” has become a viral movement , with various stars posting photographs hashtagged “#weareheremovement” listing the reasons they think they are alive.
Jennifer Lopez posted, “To love. To give. To inspire.”
Pharrell Williams posted, “I am here to serve humanity with humility.”
Of course, it wouldn’t be a viral movement if only celebrities were involved. Fans from all over the world are using the hashtag #weareheremovement for everything from personal affirmations to political statements.
