Hackers now have a place that they can call their own. Hackers House, a social network that supports “the hacker culture, mindset, way of life, ideologies, political views, and vision,” has so far recruited 1,000 members.
Members of the community are able to exchange ideas with each other, communicate, form groups, conglomerate around projects, and even get some gigs through its recruitment market. It’s very much like your ordinary social network. After all, it’s powered by Ning .
Founders of the community stressed that they do not promote criminal activities and is using the term “hacker” in the complementary sense– that it expresses “admiration for the work of the the most skilled, creative, clever, unique, provocative, intelligent, intense, intriguing and interesting people among the human society.”
Hackers House is backed by GnuCitizen , a group credited with some high-profile security researches.
