22-year-old Carlesha Freeland-Gaither, the Philadelphia woman who was abducted on Sunday night as she walked down a city street, has been reportedly found. According to NBC Philadelphia , Carlesha was found alive , safe in Maryland following an investigation in to her abduction by the police. According to Howard County, Maryland police officials who helped locate her, Carlesha Freeland-Gaither was found along route 175 in the town of Jessup, located around 115 miles south of Philadelphia. She was found with the same man who had allegedly kidnapped her on Sunday night.
Carlesha’s kidnapper, who was earlier described as a 25-to 30-year-old man standing around 5-feet 10-inches, with a heavy build, has been identified as Delvin Barnes, 37. Barnes, who seems to be a seasoned criminal is now being held on an unrelated warrant from Virginia for attempted capital murder, officials from the Philadelphia Police Department confirmed on Wednesday night.
According to Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey, Delvin Barnes is a seasoned thug.
“He’s a thug and this is what he does, apparently. Nothing he does make sense, don’t even try to find it. He’s a vicious predator, he’s off the streets, and hopefully he’ll spend the rest of his life in jail,” Ramsey told reporters.
A nationwide hunt was on in search of Carlesha following the release of a shocking surveillance footage that showed the harrowing moments of her kidnapping. Thanks to the video, police officials had managed to identify the license plate of the vehicle that was used by Barnes and started tracking it. At the time of his arrest, Carlesha was still inside the car with him. Police officials have confirmed that Carlesha is in good health
Meanwhile, in a press conference conducted by local police officials, Carlesha’s mother Keisha Gaither thanked everyone who helped locate her daughter;
“I just want to thank everybody. I would like to thank the Philadelphia department of police, the FBI…especially the public.”
“I’m taking my baby home,” she added.
Following her kidnapping, authorities on her trail were able to gather several clues about her possible whereabouts. Nearly nine hours after Carlesha went missing, her ATM card was used by a man on Monday morning in Aberdeen, Maryland. It was after this clue that police officials scourged the area near Maryland before eventually locating Carlesha and rescuing her.
The Inquisitr had earlier reported about the fact that Carlesha used to be a resident of Maryland, where she used to live with her grandmother, Ana Mulero, for nearly 15 years. It was therefore suspected that the person who abducted her might have been known to her.
