Changing clothes in public has always been a tricky proposition, especially if you are a woman. Fortunately, a company has come up with a great solution to the eons-old problem for the female gender, and it is getting handsomely rewarded for it.
Simply titled the Undress, the apparel has an equally unflattering though clear tag-line: “Change clothes in public without ever getting naked.” In fact, the sales pitch has been so effective that people are making a virtual beeline to the portal that is handling the startup funding for the company.
Touted as the “Mobile Changing Room,” the Kickstarter page had initially set a relatively modest goal of just $22,000. However, as the campaign drew to a close about four days back, the company has been flooded with pledges that have already exceeded half a million dollars. At close, the Undress project has got almost 7,300 backers.
The Undress, unlike some other funding requests on Kickstarter, is meant to solve a simple, but pertinent and pestering problem – working out ways and attempting to change into normal clothes without treating your car or gas station restroom as a makeshift fitting room, reported New York Magazine . Women have always had to figure out or hunt for places where they could have some privacy. While many beaches or boulevards do have mobile changing rooms, they are often inadequate or simply too small or smelly to change comfortably in.
The solution: A dress that you wear that allows you to change without having to cautiously watch your back. Co-founders Dennis Caco and April Estrada seem to have indeed come up with a simple solution that offers women complete peace of mind and allows them to change into their choice of outfit casually amidst a crowd without anything been seen.
With the “dress” having components like a draw-string loop at the top, a chord lock, side access openings, reversible design and garter loops, the makers insist it’s a “system.” But the Undress does have some special components, like an innovative slip-under front-panel, inner lining, hidden packable pouch, and trademarked hook and handle that indicate that the entire system is meant to add a layer of visual protection, while the lady slips into the dress of her choice.
Gone are the days of changing behind a flimsy towel, in a dirty public restroom, or the backseat of a car, claim the makers. Moreover, they assure the Undress is applicable for multiple outdoor activities, apart from being an emergency slip-on dress in itself. So go ahead — comfortably change clothes in odd places, suggests the page.
