Gina Neely, of the successful Food Network show Down Home With The Neelys, has filed for divorce from her TV partner and husband, Pat Neely. According to WJHL, c ourt documents confirm that Gina Neely filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences. The Memphis, Tennessee, duo confirmed the news of their divorce with the following statement released today.
“Today we announce that we are ending our marriage of 20 years for irreconcilable differences. This was a tough decision, but we believe it is the best decision for us. As parents of two beautiful adult daughters that we love dearly, we will continue to be involved in each other’s lives as parents and friends. Together we have built a strong brand as The Neely’s. Moving forward our focus will be on our individual brands and we are optimistic about our respective futures. We ask for your prayers as we go through this transition and honor our request for privacy at this time.”
The news comes as a shock to many Down Home With The Neelys fans who have followed the Food Network couple for several years, though some deep in the celebrity gossip world predicted a divorce was pending a year ago with the announcement that their barbecue restaurant chain would be closing.
The couple became nationally known after the debut of their show Down Home With The Neelys on February 2, 2008. Many Food Network fans were sickened by the couple’s over-the-top sexual overtones, such as Pat Neely grabbing Gina by the waist, giving her kisses and calling her baby, constantly.
