As the Inquisitr previously reported, rapper Kanye West made a fool of himself when he called out two people at a concert in Sydney, Australia, who didn’t stand up when he demanded everyone do so. The reason they couldn’t stand up is because they were wheelchair-bound.
West took notice that they were in wheelchairs, but he didn’t really apologize for calling them out without taking note that they couldn’t actually stand up. Now that the story has made headlines, Kanye West decided to take a stand against the reports.
As the above video shows, Kanye West was performing another concert in Sydney, and he decided to take a break from the music to go on a rant against the media. In the beginning of the video, which is not suitable for work, West requests the audience to turn off their camera phones. However, at least one person didn’t listen, and the YouTube user captured the whole rant.
Kanye began by going after The Today Show’ s Matt Lauer.
“Matt, when this runs tomorrow morning, I want you to do me a favor,” West begins. “Don’t try to force me into some fake apology like last time I was on the show with you and everything.”
But Kanye wasn’t done ranting against Lauer just yet.
“Matt, what I want you to do is just, like, run the video that everyone’s talking about, where I so-called screamed at somebody and everything,” West continued. “I want you to run that, since this is such big media press and news and everything and obvious s*** where they try to demonize people.”
Kanye West then went on to criticize what is considered newsworthy in American media.
“Welcome to today’s news, ladies and gentlemen,” Kanye said. “We got Americans getting killed on TV; we have kids getting killed every weekend in Chicago; we have unarmed people being killed by police officers…It makes you just want to reflect on what are the things that are more sensationalized than others.”
The audience seemed to be in agreement with just about everything Kanye West had to say. West then went on to call out Michael Strahan and the women from The View in addition to Lauer.
“Y’all run this. Look at me for a second; take a step back and look at this,” Kanye said. “I’m a married, Christian man with a family. At my concerts, I make sure everybody has as good a time as possible.”
West added that the media should start focusing their attention on someone else.
“All this demonizing me and all that, it ain’t going to work after a while,” Kanye said. “Pick a new target. Pick a new target, because I’m not one of these dumba** artists that you’re used to.”
Kanye’s wife, Kim Khardashian, even came to his defense and posted a statement on her Instagram page .
“Its [sic] frustrating that something so awesome could be clouded by lies in the media,” she wrote. “Kanye never asked anyone in a wheel chair to stand up & the audience videos show that. He asked for everyone to stand up & dance UNLESS they were in a wheel chair. #JustWantedEveryoneToHaveAFunNight #TheMediaTwistsThings.”
