Eva Longoria was not one of the female celebrities to see nude photos of herself released on the internet by a still unknown hacker or group of hackers — but that doesn’t mean she’s been free of privacy issues with Apple.
Whoever obtained the trove of private photos showing such stars as Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton nude is believed to have infiltrated the Apple iCloud storage computers to break into the celebrity accounts.
But what Eva Longoria says happened to her is nowhere near that sophisticated. It’s just a matter of Apple Store employees accessing her personal email profile to obtain her personal email address and even her phone number.
The star-struck Apple Store employees have not been especially subtle about hiding their intrusion into her privacy, the former Desperate Housewives star told the Access Hollywood show in an interview set to air Wednesday on the program.
“I’ve had a lot of problems of people breaking into my email,” she tells Access Hollywood co-host Billy Bush in the interview.
When Bush asks if her email has been hacked, Longoria replies, “Not hacked, just go get it from the stores and I had a big problem with that.”
Access Hollywood co-host Kit Hoover then asks Longoria, “What were they sending you? Like ‘Hi Eva, my name is John?’”
“Yeah. ‘I made a dress I want to send it to you, I work at the Apple Store here in San Antonio,’” Longoria replies . “And I’m like, ‘What? Did someone give out my email? Or my phone!’ ‘I saw your phone number from your profile, I just wanted to call and say Hi I’m a fan.’ There are a lot of privacy issues.”
Apple did not comment on Longoria’s charges when asked for a response by Access Hollywood .
In fact, the Cupertino, California-based computing giant has deflected any responsibility for the massive leak of celebrity nude photos.
“None of the cases we have investigated have resulted from any breach in any of Apple’s systems including iCloud or Find my iPhone,” the company said in a statement. “We are continuing to work with law enforcement to help identify the criminals involved.”
But the Eva Longoria allegations are yet another blow to Apple’s reputation for security.
