Johnny Depp and Kevin Smith are teaming up for a comic book movie entitled Yoga Hosers . But that’s not all. Reports say that the two will be working alongside their daughters, Lily-Rose Depp and Harley Quinn Smith.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the movie is the second installment to Smith’s True North trilogy. It is the follow up to his movie Tusk , which is scheduled to be released at the Toronto Film Festival happening in September. The trilogy focuses on Canadian culture and myths.
Yoga Hosers features Lily-Rose and Harley Quinn as 15-year-old girls who are both obsessed with yoga. They are also both named Colleen in the movie. The teens will be fighting an evil force that is threatening to dampen their school party, and they will do so with the help of a man-hunter named Guy Lapointe, played by Johnny Depp.
Stars from Tusk who will be returning in the second installment include Haley Joel Osment and Justin Long, Entertainment Weekly reports. Other stars appearing in the film include Tony Hale, Jason Mewes, Tyler Posey, Adam Brody, Austin Butler, and Natasha Lyonne. Kevin Smith wrote the film and will be in the director’s chair once again. Smith talked about the movie and said:
“People always ask me ‘Are you ever going to make a comic book movie?’ This is it—but instead of yet another dude saving the day, our antiheroes are the most feared and formidable creatures man has ever encountered: two 15-year-old girls.”
StarStream Entertainment will be producing and financing the film. In a statement, CEO Kim Leadford said that the movie’s timing is perfect, as there are so many production companies that are looking for content with antiheroes and female superheroes. “And it’s pretty exciting to have their dads making the film with them.”
This is not the first time Lily-Rose Depp and Harley Quinn Smith appear in a movie. Both had cameo appearances in Tusks and their characters in the new movie are spin-offs from their characters in the first movie.
It seems that both girls are following their fathers’ footsteps and getting their name recognized in the movie industry. Meanwhile, Johnny Depp is busy with his other films, as discussed in an article on Inquisitr. His new movie Mortdecai will be released soon, and he will be reprising his role as the Mad Hatter and Jack Sparrow in Through the Looking Glass and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales respectively.
Yoga Hosers will start filming this week, and it is scheduled to be released in June 2015.
