Former Doritos model Ali Landry is opening up about her fleeting marriage to actor turned Extra host Mario Lopez . The pair were dating for years before they got engaged in 2003 and were married in 2004. However, Landry didn’t receive her happily ever after with Lopez as the marriage only lasted for two weeks.
In what’s said to be one of the most well known and shortest marriage between two pseudo celebrities, Ali Landry is telling her side of the story on why she had decided to have her marriage annulled after saying “I Do” to the Saved by the Bell Actor.
During Oprah: Where Are They Now? Landry admitted that she ignored her intuition when she had heard that Mario had cheated on her prior to their nuptials. When she confronted him, Landry said, “he swore up and down it was not true. My little voice inside me was telling me that there’s something going on.”
That said, the truth was revealed shortly after that and their fairy tale wedding in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico went up in flames.
“All of my friends and family were flying down to this wedding in Mexico. So, I went through with the wedding.”
Years later and Mario Lopez opened up about those cheating allegations. In an interview with Howard Stern, Lopez admitted that his bachelor party in Mexico was wild and was a recipe for disaster.
“It was spring break….everybody was hanging out. That was a situation where I was not mature and man enough.”
In fact back then Landry didn’t even know he was in Mexico. Instead Lopez told her that he was on a fishing trip with his buddies.
So how was Lopez’s one night stand revealed to Landry? According to Mario someone took a photo of him with another woman by the pool and it got back to Landry’s sister who then showed her the picture.
Of the marriage Lopez said:
“I dealt with all this drama, and then at that point just realize…I finally got the balls to say ‘Hey, listen I’m not ready for this, I’m sorry. At that point. I was not ready to settle down. I wasn’t man enough to know how to go about handling it.”
Since then both stars have moved on. Lopez has two children with his wife Courtney Mazza, and Ali Landry has three children with her husband Alejandro Monteverde. Landry has been married for eight years.
