Facebook Gets a Christmas Bonus: Record Traffic

Facebook hit a record traffic number on Christmas Eve of 2008, snagging just over 2 percent of all U.S.-based Internet traffic.

It seems to be the beginning of an annual trend for the social network site — Facebook peaked on Christmas Day of 2007, Hitwise reports, and didn’t see that level matched again until this past July. Christmas Eve was then the next time the record was broken. The exact percentage of visitors on December 24 was 2.18 percent of American Internet users — a full 54 percent increase from the previous month’s average.

Not a bad present for the Facebook folks, I’d imagine.
