Remember in 2010 when Gizmodo published a story in which they got their hands on the iPhone 4 prototype which was left in a bar, well it turns out history might be repeating itself with news surfacing that a new iPhone prototype, perhaps the iPhone 5 prototype has been found in a Silicon Valley bar.
According to to CNET Apple worked quickly this time to recover their newly missing prototype. Unlike last year when Apple had police breaking down doors to get their prototype back, this year the phone was discovered in Mexican restaurant and bar Cava 22 and Apple decided to politely ask for the phone back, with police still by their side.
The man who allegedly found the phone “acknowledged being at Cava 22 on the night the device went missing” but said he knew nothing of it’s whereabouts, allowing police to search his home.
According to CNET:
“Before leaving the house, the Apple employees offered the man money for the phone no questions asked, the source said, adding that the man continued to deny he had knowledge of the phone.”
Unfortunately no specifics about the iPhone prototype have been revealed and according to the report it may have been sold on Craigslist for as little as $200, Gizmodo on the other hand paid $5,000 for last years iPhone 4 prototype.
Here’s a tip for Apple, don’t let your employees take devices to bars and if they do make sure they have them attached to their hips, literally.
