I think we all have spent the occasional sunny afternoon laying in a park staring up at the sky watching clouds drift by and seeing all kinds of shapes hidden in them. When it comes to taking, or looking at, photographs of clouds what we are seeing is really a very small view of them as most are taken from the ground looking up, or possibly through airplane windows; neither of which can truly capture their majesty.
Well photographer Rudiger Nehmzow isn’t one to just snap any old pictures of clouds and be happy. No, instead he goes up in a plane with a tank of oxygen, a jacket, and a belt to strap himself in so he doesn’t fall out of the open doorway that he is taking his pictures from.
Needless to say the images that he captures from four miles up in the air are breathtaking in their beauty. Here’s a few samples of his work along with a video of him in a plane four miles up taking those beautiful photographs.
