A cheerleader was found dead Monday at an off-campus housing complex near the University of Louisville. Dani Cogswell’s death has lead to an outpouring of condolences and support across social media platforms as those who knew her grieve her loss. At this point foul play is not suspected.

According to King 5 , Danielle Cogswell is from Sammamish, Washington. She cheered at Skyline High School, and her team won the 2009 state championship. She graduated in 2010 and went to Arizona State University for some time, and KIRO TV notes that she transferred to the University of Louisville last year. The cheerleader was found dead at her apartment at the Cardinal Towne housing complex.

The latest reports indicate that at this point, investigators do not know how Dani Cogswell died. They are waiting for autopsy and toxicology reports before sharing any further details on her death, it seems. USA Today shares that Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell indicated that there were no obvious signs of foul play in Dani Cogswell’s death .

The news of Dani’s death spread quickly on campus and online. She is remembered as a student who had a contagious smile and was always enthusiastic. The University of Louisville associate athletic director, Christine Simatocolos, noted her “dedication to her team and her sport.” In the wake of Cogswell’s death, friends started using the hashtag “#RIPDani” on Twitter to mourn the loss. From the looks of Dani’s Twitter page , nothing seemed out of the ordinary in the days before her death. Sunday night she posted a selfie to Instagram and many friends and others from the cheer community are commenting and sending their condolences to her Instagram post and Twitter page.

University of Louisville President James Ramsey has shared a statement regarding Cogswell’s death. He said, “We are saddened by the loss of a member of the University of Louisville’s student family.” He added, “Our prayers and condolences go out to Dani’s family and friends and we will support them any way we can.” Spirit coach Todd Sharp shared that the “spirit program is devastated to lose one of our beautiful and talented team members.”

It seems all who knew Dani agree that this is a devastating loss. Danielle Cogswell is not the only cheerleader found dead in recent weeks, though these circumstances are much different than some of the other cases in the news. Little else is known at this time about the circumstances surrounding the cheerleader found dead in her apartment, and the investigation continues.
