Have no doubt: The Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder’s on-again/off-again relationship is over. No immortality there.
On Saturday night, at the same Comic-Con party in San Diego, Somerhalder, 35, was spotted kissing and cavorting “sweetly and passionately” with his new squeeze, Nikki Reed, while Dobrev, 25, was photographed smooching with Baby Daddy star Derek Theler, 27, according to Hollywood Life .
Was it revenge?
A HL source says no: “The kiss from the Baby Daddy guy was (an) in-the-moment, out-of-nowhere, liquor-enabled kiss. No tongue and no major passion…. They were having fun in the moment, but it didn’t really continue for the whole night.”
So, again, was it revenge ?
Who’s to say? Dobrev’s been flirting liberally at the annual convention, where she’s attended various parties like a Bates Motel shindig and another put together by Playboy. Cameras have caught her making eyes with the likes of Orlando Bloom and Ben McKenzie, in addition to the Theler kiss.
The source says Dobrev is “definitely single and ready to mingle,… having the time of her life and looked like she didn’t have a care in the world. She was dancing all night and was so giddy. She mingled with everyone.”
Everyone except Somerhalder, of course.
While promoting The Vampire Diaries at the convention, seated at a Warner Bros. booth, the two remained separated by star Paul Wesley. Another source told HL that “it was awkward. All the other case were sitting way closer to each other.”
And don’t think that things were awkward because Somerhalder’s days on the cast are numbered. According to Gossip Cop , they’re not.
Though Somerhalder’s character Damon and Kat Graham’s Bonnie both were whacked at the end of this past season, insiders say they’ll be returning for season six in October. They are vampires, people.
Dobrev must be thrilled that he won’t be going away.
