Star Spangled Banner Has A Fourth Verse, Marine Stuns Crowd By Singing ‘In God Is Our Trust’ [Video]

“The Star Spangled Banner” as written by Francis Scott Key in 1814 actually has a fourth verse, which may be surprising to many Americans who have only heard the United States national anthem sung up to the third verse. But when one marine sang “The Star Spangled Banner” all the way to the end the people caught on video seemed a little surprised.

In a related report by The Inquisitr , when one army veteran from the Afghanistan war attempted to say the U.S. pledge of allegiance in front of students the University of Wyoming considered the patriotic act to be “offensive.” There has even been instances where atheists have sued schools , and one teacher was even suspended for making a student stand for the Pledge of Allegiance . But one of the worst reports I have seen lately was when a home owners association forced a Texas man to take down his American flag from his home because it was considered a “threat to the Muslim” community. A similar situation in Florida resulted in one man painting his entire house in the colors of the American flag after the city fined him multiple times.

When Francis Scott Key wrote “The Star Spangled Banner” he intended the song to be a vision for the United States over the long term. As part of this vision he included this verse:

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved home and the war’s desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.” And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

What do you think about the full version of “The Star Spangled Banner”? Why do you think so many people are attempting to put down and make illegal any attempts at being patriotic?
