The Fault In Our Stars hasn’t even been released in theaters yet, but that isn’t stopping their momentum among fans of the novel and its stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort.

As of right now the trailer has earned 273,000 likes and counting, which beats out the former number one liked trailer, One Direction: This Is Us .

In addition The Fault In Our Stars trailer has accumulated 17 million views. Although that number is nothing to laugh at it isn’t a record breaking number. So far Iron Man 3 has the most views with 58 million.

According to the official synopsis, The Fault In Our Stars adaptation is as follows:

“Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel’s other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group.”

The cast, along with author John Green and director Josh Boone are making the rounds on a press tour. The group is currently stopping in multiple cities around the country to promote the film and novel which opens on June 6. The fans have turned up to each location in droves, and social media has been on the forefront of this particular film campaign.

Author John Green tweeted about the huge crowd in Miami:

Miami! I am really sorry we could not stay longer but it became really dangerous near the stage. You guys are amazing and I will come back.

Huge thanks to the security personnel and Miami police for keeping people safe.

As we previously reported this tour was made possible by a clever fan contest on Tumblr. The tour, which is slated from May 6 to May 10, is dictated by fans that took to the site for the “Demand Our Stars” contest. In order to vote for a particular city fans had to create a logo supporting the film that represented their city/state and post it to Tumblr. The most “notes” a post received determined the winners.

Fox Films senior vice president had this to say about the marketing strategy:

“Tumblr obviously is a platform where a lot of our Fault fanatics live, so we were looking to do something really big with them. We also wanted to give our fans control over some of our campaigns.”

The Fault In Our Stars hits theaters on June 6.
