A couple of miles may not seem like a lot but when it comes to bridges, especially those going over large bodies of water, but apparently Louisiana’s Lake Pontchartrain Causeway has lost its position as the world record holder for the longest over water bridge.
At 23.83 miles long the Causeway held the record since it was built but now the Chinese have broken that record with the completion and opening of the Qingdao Haiwan Bridge which measures in at 26.4 miles in length.
Oh and just in case you’re curious it cost $2.3 billion to construct.
