American Idol season five #2 Katharine McPhee dropped by the season finale of The Voice.
McPhee wasn’t looking for another title, however- the former reality show contestant was promoting the new project Smash . Smash is premiering on NBC early next year, and a Broadway-specific blog got the deets on the show’s theater cred:
The show, which is about a group of people who come together to put on a Broadway musical was developed by NBC’s Robert Greenblatt, Steven Spielberg, and Broadway producing team Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. Broadway’s Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman – whose latest venture, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, is now running at the Neil Simon Theatre – wrote the music for the show. Michael Mayer directed the project, and playwright Theresa Rebeck penned the script.
The show also stars Debra Messing and Jack Davenport (of FlashForward ) and will occupy the slot just ahead of The Voice when it appears next winter.
