Each day, a new spate of hacks seems to be part of every tech news feed.
Sites where you comment, gaming sites- breaches have been occurring all over the place lately, and most people don’t really adhere to security guidelines when it comes to practicing safe surfing. Remembering a string of random numbers and letters can be a bit of a hassle when you just want to join in on the ragging at the newest Lindsay Lohan picture. Plus, with the number of hacks making headlines every day, it’s hard to keep track of who’s hacking who and when.
Lifehacker just highlighted a site- shouldichangemypassword.com – that compares your most-used email addresses for logins against recently released lists of hacked logins to tell you if you’ve been hacked. While the site doesn’t purport to comprehensively cover all hacks, it’s a good baseline source of information if you’re curious. I gave it a go with my most common email address, and it correctly notified me of the Gawker hack in which my info had been exposed.
