John Legend almost had a somewhat disastrous wedding thanks to some rough weather in the US.
Although the singer and his bride Chrissy Teigen eventually tied the knot in Italy last September, the ceremony was reportedly delayed thanks to some Stateside storms. Since a lot of their friends and family traveled from the US to Lake Como, a few flights had trouble making it across the pond.
During their conversation with Martha Stewart’s Weddings , John Legend said the wedding took place with everyone safely in attendance. Since the event was ultimately pushed back a few hours, the guests decided to fill their spare time with alcohol .
“They had cocktails for four hours!” the singer’s wife told the magazine.

Not surprising, John Legend had a few famous faces at his wedding last year. Included among the guests were Kanye West, Quincy Jones, and Stevie Wonder . Although they had to wait an extra four hours for the ceremony to begin, apparently none of them seemed to mind the delay.
Legend told The Associated Press that he and Teigen get along famously. Since the pair both obviously have a very sharp sense of humor, John explained to the outlet that comedy is definitely a pretty big party of their lives. This often includes trips to local clubs. However, he does admit that the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model is much funnier.
The singer explained:
“I wish I was funnier myself… I surround myself with people who are different from me. Obviously, people always ask me, ‘How are you and Chrissy together?’ And then people also ask me, ‘How are you and Kanye working together for so many years because you’re so different?’ But I think I gravitate toward people that are a little more outrageous than I am. And we complement each other well.”
