Apple doesn’t want you to film concerts and they have filed a patent to make their dream a reality.

The company’s new technology would allow concert promoters to install specialized infrared sensors in arenas that would automatically turn off an iPhone’s camera sensor when in range of the sensors, while still allowing the rest of the users phone to work in it’s normal manner.

The Daily Mail speculates from their sources that the company created the technology to play nice with media companies who make money off concert footage. As Apple inevitably attempts to attract music companies to their Apple iCloud program the move to make them more trusting of Apple makes sense.

The patent was first filed in 2009.
