Ever wonder what a six-year-old Bruno Mars looked like, well, here is a video of one of the biggest pop stars in music impersonating the King himself, Elvis Presley.

The adorable video is from 1992, when Bruno and his family used to live in Hawaii and shows that even at that tender age the “Gorilla” singer had all the moves he displays today in his live performances.

After the Super Bowl Halftime Show this past Sunday, Bruno Mars is all the rave online and in the news, his music and dancing captivated the country and even those who didn’t know who this superstar was were impressed with his talent.

But it all started way back, when he was growing up with his close-knit family.

In this KOMO News video called “Front Runners”, host Steve Pool introduced then six-year-old Bruno as the youngest Elvis impersonator known.

Mars is seen wearing a blue outfit, complete with Elvis’ signature bell bottoms and thick white belt shaking his hips exactly like the King used to do in front of adoring fans, he even has the hairstyle down, which he kind of keeps to this day.

In his cute little voice Bruno Mars explains to an amused Pool how he ended up becoming the youngest Elvis impersonator in the world:

“When I was a baby my dad used to call me Elvis and looked what happened.”

At the time Bruno Mars — whose name is Peter Gene Hernandez — was part of six-day-a-week family act called “The High Notes” at a nightclub on Waikiki Beach. His dad, Peter Hernandez and mom Bernie San Pedro Bayot — who were great Elvis fans — were also part of the show, as was his brother.

But the undisputed star of the show was Bruno Mars, who shook, rattled, and rolled confidently to the delight of those who came to watch.

Pool got an exclusive pass to talk to the pint sized star and asked him what it was that he liked about Elvis Presley, to which Bruno Mars responded:

“I like his singing and dancing and his lip.” Say what?

When asked too clarify, Bruno makes his best impersonation of Elvis’ side lip gesture, so Pool gets what he’s talking about.

In the 24-year-old video, we also get a peek into how Bruno Mars grew up in a loving family, who spent a lot of time doing fun things, enjoying the weather, and imparting their values to their young children. Sadly, the singer lost his mom in June of 2013.

Even back then, six-year-old Bruno Mars said he wanted to be “just like Elvis” and we can certainly say he is becoming one of the biggest names in the music industry today.
