The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled on Friday that Apple did not violate five patents Nokia accused the company of ripping off.
According to the complaint, the patents involves electronic devices, mobile phones, computers and portable music players, in other words, most major aspects of Apple’s core business.
The suit was filed in October 2009 and various countersuits have since been filed, with new suits being added as Nokia believed they had found more infringements in different jurisdictions.
Recently added to the battle is four new suits filed by Nokia against Apple in European courts.
According to MacRumors :
ITC staff have already issued a preliminary position siding with Nokia regarding Apple’s countersuit claiming patent infringement, but an agency judge has yet to issue an official ruling on that case.
