The iconic yellow costume worn by Wolverine in the comic books was originally slated to make an appearance in James Mangold’s The Wolverine .
This summer’s superhero flick found the character making the journey all the way to Japan. Although he doesn’t sport a nifty outfit in the movie, Wolverine was originally supposed to don an outfit that closely resembled the one found in the source material .
Unfortunately, Wolverine’s yellow costume didn’t make it into the final cut of James Mangold’s flick . Sculptor and digital modeler Adam Ross may have put a lot of time and effort into the outfit, but apparently it wasn’t the look Mangold and company had in mind for the character.
Instead of simply tossing the outfit into a closet and forgetting all about it, Ross decided to share a photo of the yellow costume he designed with the entire world. Thanks to the good folks at Movieweb , fans can find a picture of Wolverine’s yellow outfit embedded below.
“This is the costume that I modeled for ‘The Wolverine.’ It was unused in the final cut of the film. Everything in the box is digitally modeled and 3D printed. There is no cloth or leather used in these parts,” Ross explained.
If you’re a fan of Wolverine, then you’ll want to make sure to check out Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past in theaters next year. According to star Hugh Jackman, this could be the last time the actor plays Wolverine on the big screen.
“It may be the last. By the way, it didn’t hit me until three weeks before the end [of shooting ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’], because we promoted ‘The Wolverine’ and I came back on set with three weeks to go, and that’s when I went, ‘Well, who knows? Maybe there’s no more Wolverine. Maybe this is it. Who knows? Maybe,” he recently told MTV News .
