Evelyn Lozada, the divorcee of former NFL player Chad Ochocinco Johnson, said she plans to let the no-contact order against Johnson-who head-butted her allegedly-expire, The Examiner reports .
Johnson is believed to be on his way toward the completion of a batterer’s intervention program, which he was placed in after being charged with domestic battery against Lozada, within the next few months, TMZ reports .
Upon the completion of Johnson’s program, Lozada would have to request a civil restraining order, which she plans not to do, despite the head-butting incident. Johnson evaded having to serve jail time in lieu of 12-month’s probation time and enrollment in the batterers intervention program.
Following the head-butting incident, Lozada filed for divorce. On September, 19, the divorce was finalized, in Florida, E!Online confirmed.
Reportedly, Johnson did not want to break the marriage up. It took nearly a month after Lozada had filed before Johnson faced reality and turned in his divorce papers in order finalize the divorce.
The couple had been married for a whole six weeks and some change, before the head-butting incident. According to TMZ, the head-butting incident followed an argument about a condom receipt that Lozada had found in Johnson’s car.
After the couple split, Johnson got a tattoo of Lozada’s face, on his leg. He also had told sources that he plans to repair their relationship. Lozada had no intention of patching up the relationship, though she did say she wanted to move forward.
Lozada was admitted to a hospital after the incident where she issued a statement saying she would not tolerate domestic abuse:
“It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well.”
