Morrissey Isn’t Gay, Describes Himself As A ‘Humasexual’

Despite what you may have read in his new tell-all book, Morrissey isn’t gay. According to the former Smiths frontman, he’s actually a “humasexual.”

In his new book Autobiography , the singer discusses the first relationship he had with a man. However, Morrissey wants everyone to know that he doesn’t think of himself as a homosexual. Instead, the musician said he is attracted to human beings in general.

According to the fansite True to You , Morrissey addressed the situation in a statement from Sweden.

“Unfortunately, I am not homosexual. In technical fact, I am humasexual. I am attracted to humans. But, of course, not many,” the singer explained.

In an excerpt from Autobiography published by The Guardian , Morrissey revealed that he didn’t get involved in a serious relationship until he was in his 30s. After meeting Jake Owen Walters, the musician said “for the first time in my life the eternal ‘I’ becomes ‘we’, as, finally, I can get on with someone.”

“Jake and I neither sought not needed company other than our own for the whirlwind stretch to come. Indulgently Jake and I test how far each of us can go before ‘being dwelt in’ causes cries of intolerable struggle, but our closeness transcends such visitations,” Morrissey said of his two-year relationship.

Although the singer said he was in a relationship with Walters, he never says if they were lovers. In his tell-all book, Morrissey recalls an exchange he had with a woman in an airport.

“Well,’ says the woman in the British Airways lounge, ‘you’re either very close brothers or lovers.’ ‘Can’t brothers be lovers?’ I imprudently reply – always ready with the pointlessly pert, whether sensible or not,” he wrote.

In addition to discussing his relationship with Walters, Morrissey also addressed his lack of interest in the opposite sex as a teenager. Since he never thought of himself as a sexual person, he later became an icon of celibacy during the 80s.

“Girls remained mysteriously attracted to me and I had no idea why, since although each fumbling foray hit the target, nothing electrifying took place, and I turned a thousand corners without caring … Far more exciting were the array of stylish racing bikes that my father would bring home,” he wrote.

According to The Huffington Post , Morrissey later described sex as a “waste of batteries.”
