Is Honey Boo Boo so fat that her life is in danger unless she’s put on a strict diet to lose as much as 55 pounds? Or, is she just an adorably chubby nine-year-old with a hankering for ‘sketti? That’s the subject of discussion and dissension on The Doctors today, as the medical show’s host Dr. Travis Stork confronts Honey Boo Boo ‘s mother Mama June Shannon, reported People .

How does a nine-year-old become obese? The young reality TV star, whose real name is Alana Thompson, answers the question cheerfully.

“I love a lot of stuff deep-fried,” says Honey Boo Boo blissfully. “I love deep-fried Oreos.”

However, when Entertainment Tonight investigated the situation, the show’s reporters questioned whether Mama June really is on board with the plan to change the family’s diet.

Dr. Travis, who authored a weight loss book, focused on Honey Boo Boo’s at-home eating habits and the food that Mama June keeps for her family as essential staples.

“Honey Boo Boo has way too much sugar,” lectured Travis. “Way too much processed foods in the house and that’s what’s got to stop.”

To those who think that Honey Boo Boo is cute, The Doctors laid out the troubling statistics. She is four feet, six inches tall, tipping the scale at 125 pounds. That number makes her weigh twice as much as the normal weight for her height.

Obesity on its own increases the risk for conditions ranging from diabetes, to hypertension and heart disease. However, the episode also revealed that Honey Boo Boo has asthma, which Dr. Travis linked to inflammation.

But Mama June implied that Honey Boo Boo was born that way.

“I’ve been concerned about her health for nine years,” she said defensively. “I mean, she’s been this way for nine years.”

Emphasizing that exercise counts as well as diet, The Doctors also gave her a bicycle. And then came the discovery that the nine-year-old had no idea how to ride a bike.

Although Honey Boo Boo wasn’t thrilled about tossing out the Oreos, she did put on a happy face when offered the gift.

“I’m looking forward to most doing some like things that can help me and stuff,” admitted the former star of Toddlers & Tiaras .

As to how Mama June feels about all these changes?

“We’re going to take this program one step at a time and see how it works,” she commented.

As the Inquisitr reported, Mama June has been so proud of her recipes for concoctions such as ‘sketti (ketchup, butter, and noodles) that she has demonstrated them on talk shows. And before Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was aired, June also shared her recipe for Go-Go Juice that consists of Red Bull and Mountain Dew, designed to keep her daughter energized for beauty pageants.
