Jodie Sweetin is getting pretty excited about reprising her role in the upcoming Netflix series Fuller House . Sweetin played Stephanie Tanner in the original Full House series and talked with Us Weekly about the coming show.
“I am beyond thrilled! To say I’m excited, I don’t think is quite an adequate term for it. I’m getting to do something and have an opportunity to be a part of something I hold incredibly dear to me, with people that are my family that I’ve known since I was 5 years old. To be able to go back and do this as an adult and really bring the Stephanie character back to life and who she is as an adult, who wouldn’t be excited to be able to do that?”
The new series will focus on D.J. Tanner (Candace Cameron Bure), who is widowed and has three children. The story will follow her as she raises her family of three with the help of her younger sister, Stephanie, and her best friend, Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber). With the characters all grown up now, what has Stephanie been up to for all these years?
“Steph has been a world traveler,” Jodie Sweetin revealed in the interview. “She is a little bit of a free spirit. She’s kind of an aspiring musician, she’s been traveling all over. I think she’s gonna be really fun to play.”
Sweetin went on to explain how she plans on portraying her character in the new series.
“I think I’m gonna get to bring a lot of elements of myself to [Stephanie], which I did as a kid. But I don’t think I really realized I was doing it. When you’re a kid that’s just who you are. I think I’m going to get to bring some really fun life into Stephanie and who she is and what she’s up to.”
John Stamos, who played Uncle Jessie in the original show, is producing the new series. In addition to Stamos appearing as Uncle Jessie, Dave Coulier is expected to return as Uncle Joey.
Coulier’s involvement in the series was recently announced by Ace Showbiz , and the actor posted a pic of him on Instagram with the caption, “Yes, I’ll be on the Fuller House reunion. And this guy, Mark Cendrowski will be directing. #cutitout.”
