Lil Kim has often referred to herself as “Queen Bee” and head of “La Bella Mafia,” the female rapper who paved the way for so many others, but it appears that Nicki Minaj has taken offense to that, starting a beef between the two female rappers.

It all went down at Sunday’s BET Awards. Lil Kim was there joining her Bad Boy family for a surprise performance. Nicki was there celebrating the success of her latest album, Pinkprint . The two have notoriously had a less-than-amicable relationship, and according to Rickey , Lil Kim “has constantly directed anger at Nicki Minaj for ‘copying’ her.”
While the two seemingly steered clear of one another, the feud went public when Nicki Minaj went to accept her award, the Coca Cola Viewer’s Choice Award.
While Minaj’s speech seemed innocuous at first, with Nicki thanking her fans before asking someone to tell her what the award was for, but then it appears that Nicki threw some shade. Nicki seems to be sharing some words of wisdom, but it makes a turn as a callout for Lil Kim.
According to Rickey , Nicki Minaj said, “Please make it your business to follow your dreams because one day you will wake up and look around and your dreams will be gone and then you will be mad at somebody but be mad at your [g*****n] self .”
According to Hollywood Life , there could be no doubt who Nicki Minaj was referring to. It was clear that Nicki Minaj “ called Kim out on her irrelevancy and said the Bad Boy rapper has no one to be mad at but herself for being behind in the rap game.”
Well, Lil Kim picked up on the shade, too, and had something to say.
According to Hollywood Life , a close source stated, “If Nicki thought that her little sly comment would get under Kim’s skin, it didn’t. Kim is a legend in this game.”
The source then added, “She’s the best who’s ever done it and Nicki should be thanking her lucky stars and her fake booty that Kim did it first! Without Kim, there would be no Nicki.”
Lil Kim may have been around for a while, but it has been 10 years since the rapper has released anything. Lil Kim is planning a comeback with her performance at Sunday’s BET Awards as a little preview.
We’ll have to wait and see, though, if Lil Kim’s comeback can top the success Nicki Minaj has had with her latest album and worldwide tour.
