In November, former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell announced her engagement to F1 Red Bull Principal Christian Horner. However, sources say that Horner’s parents are not too happy about the news, and said that they will not be attending the wedding.
The source, said to be a relative of Horner, told the Mirror that Horner’s parents, Sara and Garry, are devastated .
“You can say that his parents are absolutely devastated. We won’t be going to the wedding. There is a lot more to this story than people know about – to do with his ex-partner.”
Horner was with his ex-partner, Beverley Allen, for 14 years, before he started his relationship with Geri Halliwell. According to the Independent , Horner’s parents were disappointed when their son left Allen just months after she gave birth to their daughter, Olivia.
Halliwell and Horner’s relationship was revealed in March, and they announced their engagement eight months after. The source further said that Horner’s parents won’t be present at the wedding ceremony.
“Christian’s parents have already made up their minds not to go. They’re very upset by everything that has gone on and feel as though their loyalties are very divided.”
Horner’s parents are not the only ones who disapprove of his relationship with Halliwell. Some news sources say that several other family members do not support Horner’s decision to leave Allen so soon after their baby was born.
A family member said that Horner is very close to his father, as they both share the love for racing. He even co-founded a motor racing team with his father, but according to reports, he has since resigned from the directorships that he had with his father.
Before dating Horner, Geri Halliwell was linked to comedian Russell Brand. She also had a relationship with Sacha Gervasi, a British writer with whom she has an 8-year-old daughter.
Just a few days ago, Geri Halliwell and Christian Horner were seen smooching at the Gatwick airport. The couple went on a holiday vacation in Austria, and are planning to visit the island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean to welcome the New Year. According to a close friend, the couple planned the romantic holiday vacation to get away from the complications arising at home.
Halliwell and Horner have yet to decide on a date for their wedding.
