There’s been some confusion over the name of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s daughter. When news broke that she had arrived, someone on staff from the hospital leaked out that her name was Violet. After the news got out, the tweet was promptly deleted.
Then, as Ryan Reynolds made the rounds promoting his new film Mississippi Grind , we found out that her name isn’t Violet. Still, Reynolds rightfully protected his daughter’s privacy and did not choose to reveal her name.
Of the name Violet, Reynolds told USA Today , “No, that’s not the name. I don’t want to get into that but I don’t know where that came from.”

Now, thanks to a source who spoke to E! Online , we may have an idea of what Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds named their daughter, and it makes perfect sense for the couple.
According to the source, the baby’s name is James. The name is traditionally for a boy, but so is Blake’s name, so it definitely carries a tradition within the Lively-Reynolds family. As the Inquisitr reported, Reynolds gave a bit of a hint to David Letterman about the baby’s name. Eventually, he came around to saying that her name might be biblical. If her name is in fact James, then this keeps in line with the hint Ryan gave to the Letterman audience.

Talking about fatherhood wasn’t a subject that was off limits during Reynolds’ talk show circuit. The actor told Live With Kelly and Michael all about the perks of welcoming a new baby for the first time.
“I’m happily not getting any sleep. These days, I think of blinking as taking tiny little naps all day.”
He even found a bit of humor among those sleepless nights and described his baby as “totally average.”
“Everyone thinks their baby is a genius. People find it delightfully refreshing when I tell them, ‘My baby? Totally average. Like, 100 percent average. I have a friend who said his 2 1/2-year-old was reciting Chekhov. Now that baby’s a genius and probably, let’s be honest, a bit of an a**hole.”
