A horse within a horse.

Meet Da Vinci, the chestnut foal that carries his own white silhouette on his back. The unique marking, which looks like another horse, runs up his left flank and neck – with his mane perfectly merging between black and white .

Da Vinci was born three months ago at the Flying Hall riding school in North Yorkshire, England. And he was a surprise gift for owner Wendy Bulmer , who bought his then-unbeknownst pregnant mother at an auction.

“I bought his mother at a sale and didn’t know she was in foal [pregnant] so that was a bit of a surprise,” said Bulmer, who is also the owner the riding school.

“I wasn’t very happy at first but he is so friendly and the kids love him,” she added, stating, “The chestnut horses have irregular patches but they don’t normally make something as recognizable.”

Named for his cool markings, Da Vinci also has a small heart-shaped white patch on his rear.
