When The Originals returns, fans will see the Mikaelson clan facing yet another familial threat. In the past, Klaus has enlisted the help of Elijah and Rebekah to rid the family of such threats as their evil parents, Esther and Mikael, while the most recent season of The Originals had the trio of siblings dealing with the ever powerful Aunt Dahlia. Yet, it seems there’s no shortage of vengeful supernatural beings in the Mikaelson bloodline.

This time, however, it will be the younger end of the family tree that will be coming to New Orleans in The Originals to torment Klaus and his siblings, according to Design & Trend . Coming up in Season 3, The Originals will depict Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah as young vampires, partly to show how they came to understand their newly acquired powers.

“We have a whole series of flashbacks over the first chapter that tell the story of the Originals’ first year as vampires before the word ‘vampire’ had even been assigned to them, and them learning what they were capable of, where they could fit in, how they could adopt the manners of a rich and cultured family even though they were tattered Vikings on the run,” said The Originals showrunner Julie Plec.

The other reason for the flashbacks, of course, is to explain the origins of The Trinity, the first vampires Klaus and his siblings had ever sired. A sire war coming into play on The Originals, which prompts Lucien, Klaus’ first sire, to lead The Trinity in search of the Mikaelsons.

“We learned how to make vampires when my sire was created,” Joseph Morgan told Entertainment Weekly . “There’s definitely a bond there. We owe each other a lot.”

There may be some sense of family between the Mikaelsons and the vampires they sired, but as The Originals Joseph Morgan points out, there’s also feelings of resentment for having been abandoned.

“There’s also this element that it’s not just the three of them but they’re in contact with a lot of the sire line for each of us so it’s like, ‘Hey, remember us? All those vampires that you turned who you’ve now abandoned? Well guess what, we’re not too happy about that and here’s why.’”

Joseph Morgan also shared teases with his Twitter followers, concerning the upcoming third season of The Originals .

“Season 3 #TheOriginals is without a shadow of a doubt the the most dynamic, gripping and intoxicating season yet. #BloodTearsAndBetrayal,” tweeted Mr. Morgan.
