According to various reports that are flowing in, Lady Gaga will be purportedly joining the Dalai Lama for a special event in Indianapolis. The celebrity duo will be addressing a strong and influential audience of 300 city leaders at the 84th Annual Meeting of The U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, June 26. However, the event starts today and runs through Monday, June 27.

A press releaseissued by the USCM states that The Dalai Lama will first present a keynote which will focus on the global significance of building kind and compassionate cities through action at the local level. After the keynote, Lady Gaga will join the Dalai Lama on stage for a conversation moderated by former NBC news anchor Ann Curry. Also present for the moderated conversation will be businessman and philanthropist Philip Anschutz. It is obvious that Lady Gaga will be donning her activist hat for this one, and her singing capabilities will take a backstage. Lady Gaga also tweeted that she is honored to be sitting down with the Dalai Lama. It seems like the two will have a conversation about kindness.

I am honored to be sitting down with the @DalaiLama this Sunday to have a conversation about kindness to 300 of our important US mayors. ??

Lady Gaga also retweeted a tweet by the Dalai Lama where he says, “Problems created by human beings have to be solved by human beings. Basic human nature is compassionate and this is our source of hope.” Considering her affinity for human rights activism, Lady Gaga’s presence at the USCM with the Dalai Lama only makes so much more sense.

Problems created by human beings have to be solved by human beings. Basic human nature is compassionate and this is our source of hope.

Lady Gaga is a voracious activist and we had recently reported that the singer/songwriter, along with a 100 more artists, has taken a stand against YouTube being too lenient with music rights. Recently , Lady Gaga also broke down into tears at a vigil in downtown Los Angeles for the 49 victims of the shooting at the Orlando nightclub.

In conjunction with the shooting, Lady Gaga has also been tweeting constantly about gun rights and advocating criminal background checks for anyone who wants to buy a firearm. Lady Gaga has used the hashtags #NoBillNoBreak and #GunControl in her tweets, which are being used by people to bring to light that the government is not doing much to bring a meaningful gun reform policy even after the horrendous shooting at the nightclub in Orlando.

The Indy Star reports that, thanks to the USCM, Indianopalis Tourism officials are expecting an economic of around $1 million. Apart from Lady Gaga, presidential candidate Hilary Clinton will also be present at the USCM event. Clinton is expected to talk about strengthening the relationship between the federal and local governments in order to support and bolster the financial economy of cities in the country. Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican party nominee, has also been invited to speak at the USMC. Tom Cochran, the group’s CEO and executive director, in this regard, said, “We would take a telephone call, video call, anything from Mr. Trump.”

Trump is currently in the Scotland for a two-day trip to promote his golf courses in the country. He gave a statement about Britain’s exit from the European Union from Scotland.

“The people of the United Kingdom have exercised the sacred right of all free peoples. Come November, the American people will have the chance to re-declare their independence. Americans will have a chance to vote for trade, immigration and foreign policies that put our citizens first. They will have the chance to reject today’s rule by the global elite, and to embrace real change that delivers a government of, by, and for the people. I hope America is watching, it will soon be time to believe in America again.”

It is unsure if Trump will be present at the USMC, but we now know for a fact that Lady Gaga will be present at the event.
