It might sound a little far-fetched at the moment, but The Wanted and One Direction could eventually team up at some point down the road.
The two groups haven’t exactly been on friendly terms in recent days. In addition to sniping back and forth on social media, One Direction reportedly took a few friendly jabs at The Wanted in their music video for Best Song Ever.
One individual who is said be growing tired of the rivalry is The Wanted singer Nathan Sykes. Instead of wasting precious time and energy by feuding on Twitter, the singer believes the groups should collaborate on a project in the near future.
“You never know, you never know! I think with Backstreet Boys and New Kids [On The Block], that’s really cool what they did, and there’s been some great collaborations. You never know,” Sykes recently told MTV News .
As far as the social media war is concerned, the singer believes the waters have calmed. Could this lead to some sort of musical collaboration? That remains to be seen.
“I think both ourselves and One Direction are, as far as I’m concerned, whatever kinds of words were said since I wasn’t really part of it, think it kind of [went away now,] which is awesome,” Sykes said.
He added, “I think it’s the best people really concentrate on the success that we’re both having and how well [we’re doing,] which is always great.”
Both groups have new endeavors to promote at the moment. While The Wanted is celebrating the release of their latest single We Own the Night, One Direction is busy with their big-screen endeavor This is Us. The movie is so popular that paramedics and bouncers are on standby during some showings.
