Chris Evans Dodges Question About ‘Snowpiercer’ Editing

What does Chris Evans think about The Weinstein Company cutting 20 minutes of footage from director Joon-ho Bong’s sci-fi flick Snowpiercer? For the moment, he isn’t saying much.

Since the star doesn’t want to put his foot in his mouth, he nimbly avoided addressing the situation head-on during his chat with Collider. When asked about the film’s visit to the Weinstein chopping block, the actor chose his words very carefully .

“I’ve heard that he’s looking to cut some things down and, you know, it’s tricky. This is the tricky part about making movies,” Chris Evans explained.

He added, “There’s usually a method to Harvey’s madness. I just got back from Korea so I wanna go in and see — I’ve gotta see a lot of things and I’d love to have a discussion with him. It’s one of those things that’s just tricky.”

Although most of the world gets to see the complete version of Snowpiercer, moviegoers in the US will be treated to a version without 20 minutes of character development. In order to appeal to the lowest common denominator, The Weinstein Company wants to market the film as an action picture.

To make matters worse, Snowpiercer is also being outfitted with narration. It’s unclear if Chris Evans will provide the additional voice work.

“Leaving aside the issue of what Weinstein thinks of its audience, it seems to say the least anomalous that the rest of the English-speaking world has to be dragged down to the presumed level of American mid-west hicks,” film critic Tony Rayns recently explained .

South Korean filmmaker Joon-ho Bong’s movie was originally slated to arrive at some point this summer. However, a release date has not been set as of this writing. If Weinstein is currently taking the scissors to the flick, then it may not arrive until early next year.

Are you a fan of Chris Evans ? Were you disappointed to learn that 20 minutes of footage is getting dropped from his new movie?
